Aug 2009 Interview with John Pahl, Former Chairman of
the Allegan County Historical Society, relates the 1) story told to him by May
Heath (1873-1961) in 1959 of how she saved the Saugatuck Treaty Oak from
workmen with saws in about 1896; 2) His memories of the 1958 Ceremony in
Saugatuck which dedicated the Singapore plaque in front of the Village hall;
and 3) How May Heath helped them save the Soldiers Memorial in Allegan.
